For 2 years, I have asked my Sentara Dr during annual exams for help with my weight when she would point out my high BMI and each time she would say there is nothing she can do for me because I don’t have an underlying health issue like diabetes. So, no help was going to be offered until I was medically obese with diabetes. I took my health into my own hands at that point and called local weight loss centers in Virginia Beach. I realized almost all of them do NOT have a Dr. in the local office and only a virtual Dr. from another state. I didn’t want that.
